Satake (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Satake Thailand”) is playing an ever-greater role in the Asian market. As Asian economies grow, its sales increase every year from ASEAN nations, like Myanmar and Indonesia, Thailand and India.
The Thai market especially is expected to grow as its industry increases plant capacity and secures the position as largest rice exporter in the world in 2013; in 2012 Thailand had fallen to 3rd.
Acknowledging these trends, Satake Thailand acquired the land next to its existing factory in July 2012 and established a new factory to expand its business and strengthen its position as a hub of production for Asian countries.
Satake Thailand had planned to buy the another lot and construct a new factory building, but instead purchased the land and buildings from an adjacent Japanese-affiliated company that decided to withdraw after the flood.
Since its completion, the new factory has operated without incident and is producing rice processing machines. The new factory has 7,700 square meters of land area and 2,500 square meters of building area. The expansion increased production capacity of Satake Thailand by 50%.
Satake Thailand manufactures and supplies rice processing machines, like paddy huskers and rice milling machines, mainly to Asian countries. The flood occurring from October 2011 damaged most machines and equipment, but the factory resumed regular manufacturing on February 29, 2012 following reconstruction. The industrial park where Satake Thailand is located is constructing a flood preventing dike around the whole industrial park area, to avert primary damage from floods.
