In today's market, retail rice brands are diversified according to consumers’ diverse needs, and rice mills are required to supply many rice brands in a small quantities. They must clean any remaining rice inside machinery completely when they change milling lots, which takes time. This is a problem. The more varieties to switchover, the more time is spent cleaning, and the mills must extend operating hours to make up for this reduction in working efficiency.
The new rice whitening and sorting unit “Sophia” takes only five minutes to switch varieties. This is about a quarter of the time of conventional machines. Sophia delivers efficient processing and fresh white rice to owners. It is a rice whitener, thickness/width grader and optical sorter combined as one unit minimizing working flow line and installation time.
The machines that make up “Sophia” can be installed separately when rice mills do not have enough space to install it as one unit.
