Satake opened its first Omusubi, handmade rice ball, shop in Hawaii called "Omusubi GABA Waikiki" on February 10th to promote GABA rice overseas.
On February 10th, “Omusubi GABA Waikiki” was opened as the first oversea shop that promotes GABA Rice, following to Saijo, Akihabara and Hiroshima Sogo Department Store in Japan.
Satake chose the first oversea store to be in Hawaii because of its information rich environment and world famous resort attracting people from all over the world. Satake hopes people who lives in or visits Hawaii to enjoy healthy and tasty GABA rice from Japan.
Omusubi GABA Waikiki locates at one of the high population density area where many condominiums stand side by side. The shop is a take-out only service shop that serves 5 varieties of hand-made rice balls and beverages including teas, and will add items on the menu gradually. The shop also sells freshly milled GABA rice. Rice distributed in Hawaii is generally milled in the mainland of the United States or in Japan and original aroma and flavor is diminished during long transportation and storage. The shop imports GABA Brown Rice produced in Hiroshima from a variety Hinohikari, and freshly milled in Hawaii to provide its original aroma and flavor.
Satake will continue to seek a potential expansion of its Omusubino-GABA operation overseas.
