Satake Releases Belt-style Magnetic Sorter

Removing magnetic contaminants from beans and grains

On September 1st, 2007, Satake Corporation released its new “Belt-style Magnetic Sorter (MS-500)”, which can sort magnetic foreign materials including stones and sand from raw materials such as beans, grains and dried food with a high degree of accuracy.

The “Belt-style Magnetic Sorter” is the latest in a long line of Satake material sorters. It uses magnetic attraction to remove contaminants from raw materials.
This sorter is able to sort and remove stones, sand, mud and insect excrement --- which contain magnetic metal pieces and iron oxide --- from beans (soy beans, red beans), grains (rice, wheat and millet), dried foods (dried seaweed, dried hijiki), or powdered foods (seasonings, spices).
It also can remove slightly magnetic foreign materials which can not be removed with a gravity separator or husk aspirator, such as pumice stones and clods.
This sorter uses a unique, highly accurate two-stage sorting process with two magnets at 6000 gauss* and 12000 gauss.
Magnetic sorting makes food safer and improves peace of mind for factories and their customers.
Satake plans to sell 30 sorters per year to food factories and grain cleaning factories.

*Gauss is the cgs unit of magnetic flux density, indicated in magnetic field lines per square centimeter. The Magnetic attraction in this equipment is indicated by residual magnetic flux density. (Magnetic flux density of magnetic attraction material itself.)
